11/30: Poetry, Pop Singers and Patriots

GETTIN' WISE:  We were going to write this one in iambic pentameter, but we used too many syllables (or too few, it's hard to remember).  Anyway, people much wiser than us, at least poetically speaking, will be performing at the Two Boots of Bridgeport tonight.  During "Wisdom 'N' Wordplay, artists will present poems, songs and other creative works, as they interpret the idea of wisdom in a fun and creative way.  It's just $10 to get in and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.

MUSIC AT MOHEGAN: Head to the casino tonight for a pair of free concerts. First up is Sam and Ruby in the Wolf Den. The duo of accomplished artists/songwriters have been performing together for nearly a decade.  Their song "Heaven's My Home," (performed by The Duhks) was nominated for a Grammy in 2007. Their show is at 8 p.m. or you can go see some American Idol alumni at the Shops at Mohegan Sun. American Stars in Concert for the Holidays features former contestants Alexis Grace, Gina Glocksen, David Hernandez and Michael Sarver. The group will perform a host of their favorite holiday renditions at 7:30 p.m.

FROM THE BIG EASY TO BRISTOL:  Patriots fans across the state will be hoping that tonight's game against one of the NFL's unbeatens will go better than the last one (see 4th and 2).  Why not calm your nerves as the Pats take on the New Orleans Saints by hitting Bleachers Bar in Bristol.  They have more than 20 beers on tap, happy hour specials from 4 p.m to 7 p.m. and Coors Light Draft specials during the game.
