1/28: Wine, Metal and Reality TV

VINO AND VITTLES: Head down to Hartford tonight (or up, or over to Hartford for that matter) for an evening of food, wine and jazz. Spris is hosting a five for $35 wine and food tasting. The menu includes a five-course dinner, with each course paired with a specific wine, all for $35 (though, that all should have been obvious from the name of the dinner). The meal features items like focaccia with goat cheese, rosemary-flavored roast veal belly and a chocolate and honey semifreddo. Don't even ask us to spell (let alone pronounce the wines), they're all very Italian sounding. Needless to say, we're sure they're all wonderful. The dinner bell rings at 6:30 p.m. (while there probably isn't a real dinner bell, don't you think there should be?).

DEVIL IN THE DETAILS:  Back in 2003, former Coal Chamber front man Dez Fafara hooked up with the band DevilDriver and helped create a brand-new band with a brand-new sound. And that sound (loud, fast, heavy and brutal) helped bring about last year's "Pray For Villains," pushing the band to headliner status. Tonight, they bring that status to Toad's Place in New Haven as part of their "Bound By the Road" tour. Tickets are $20. Show's at 8 p.m.

REALITY BYTES:  Here's the understatement of the year (so far): Reality Television isn't going anywhere and the stars of those shows are becoming a whole new subculture of celebrity (sounds like a college psych class doesn't it?) Tonight at The Shops at Mohegan Sun, you can embrace that celebrity with the casino's Reality Check. The interactive event brings the best and brightest stars from the reality realm to Mohegan, giving fans the ultimate exposure to their favorite celebs, with engaging live exhibits. Tonight, you can meet and greet two-time "Dancing With The Stars" champion Cheryl Burke. Burke gives a live performance at 7 p.m., with a signing to event to follow.
