COVERING THE COUNTRY:  There are no shortage of cover bands in the world.  But for some reason, it's mostly hair bands or other rock n' roll cover bands that dominate the industry.  We don't often hear about groups that pay tribute to the best of Country and/or Western music.  Tonight, we remedy that.  Head to the Wolf Den at Mohegan to enjoy Farmer's Daughter (just watch out for the farmer and his shotgun).  The band has been playing the best of Country since 2006, putting their spin on modern acts like Sugarland, Rascal Flatts and Trace Adkins to classics like Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn and Willie Nelson.  The band calls their live show Country music on the edge, with a little rock 'n' roll attitude thrown in for good measure.  Tickets are free.  The show starts at 7 p.m.

OPEN AND SHUT:  It's not often you get to be part of history.  But that's exactly what's happening tonight in Hamden.  Tonight is the last open mic night ever at the Space.  That's right, it's the end of an era.  Starting next month, the club's weekly open mic moves to Wednesday, and a few feet down the road to their sister club the Outerspace.  Send the evening out in style, by putting your talents on display.  Headlining the evening will be the Ben Levin Group, who perform twisted, energized and erotic conceptual music.  The band does their best never to play the same music at two shows in a row.  Tickets for tonight's open mic are $5.  The doors open at 6:30 p.m.
