6/15: Larger Than Life

ALRIGHT!:  Backstreet's Back!  Hearken back to your high school days and reminisce about times when music was simple.  There was singing, harmonizing, dancing and frosted hair.  The Backstreet Boys have sold more than 75-million albums since their debut in the '90s.  Tonight, they're on a reunion tour of sorts, making a stop at Mohegan Sun Arena.  Join AJ, Howie, Brian and Nick (and yes we had to look that up, thank you very much)  for an evening of all your favorites, like "Quit Playing Games (with My Heart)," "As Long As You Love Me," "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" and "All I Have to Give."  Tickets are $40.  The choreographed fun starts at 8 p.m.

BRIGHT IDEAS:  There's something happening in New Haven.  What it is, ain't exactly clear.  OK, it is, we were just having fun with song lyrics.  The annual International Festival of Arts & Ideas is underway in the Elm City, showcasing artists and thinkers from around the world in their fields of music, dance, theater and much more.  Tonight (the Festival runs through June 26), you can enjoy Susurrus at Edgerton Park.  It's part radio play, part avant-garde sonic art and part stroll in the park.  Susurrus tells the story of misplaced passion and betrayal that channels the themes of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream."  It's $30 to see the show, which runs several times during the day and night.  Stick with WYDT for previews of some of the Festival's bright spots during it's 2-week-plus run.

AMERICAN IDEAT:  Also in New Haven, you can enjoy a live music showcase of local talent.  The Ideat Village Launchpad is a celebration that includes local art, music, film and counterculture.  The Launchpad, which takes place at Pitkin Plaza through June 27, includes everything from art exhibits, to music showcase and art and karaoke competitions.  Click here for more info as to what's on tap tonight.
