8/13: Country Superstar, Opera and Farm Fresh Dinner

GONE COUNTRY:  One of the most popular artists in Country music is hitting Connecticut tonight. Kenny Chesney, four-time CMA Entertainer of the Year, is playing the Comcast Theatre in Hartford. Chesney sports throngs of dedicated fans, who have helped make him one of the biggest concert draws in music. Listen for his new single "I'm Alive," featuring Dave Matthews, which hits the airwaves next week. Lady Antebellum and Miranda Lambert are the opening acts. Tickets are $39.50 for the lawn, and $80 for reserved seats. Show starts at 8 p.m.

IS THERE A FAT LADY IN THE HOUSE?: The Opera Theater of Connecticut is celebrating its 24th season with a double-bill tonight. Puccini's Suor Angelica and Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticiana will be put on at Andrews Memorial Town Hall in Clinton. Yes, the shows are in Italian, but they will feature English supertitles. There are even boxed suppers available before the show from Chips Pub III. Tickets are $37.50. Starts at 7:30 p.m.

DOWN ON THE FARM:  Looking for a fresh bite to eat? Head to White Gate Farm in East Lyme for the second of four of Dinners at the Farm. The series is designed to feature locally grown produce, cooked in a truly unique way. Chefs will cook up their meals in a portable min-kitchen, retrofitted on the back of a 1955 Ford F-600 flat-bed truck. The meal is served family-style on the grounds of the farm, with guests seated on a long table under a white tent. Reservations are highly encouraged, and dinner costs $150. Proceeds will benefit local farmers. Starts at 7:15 p.m.
