9/3-9/6: This Weekend

Get ready for some high speed fun on the Connecticut River this Labor Day weekend. World record-holding competitors from around the country will start their engines for a heart-pounding, high-speed professional powerboat race. The U.S. Title Series returns Saturday and Sunday. You can catch all the action from East Hartford's Great River Park and Mortensen Riverfront Plaza in Downtown Hartford. There will also be entertainment, food and drink, but best of all this event is free!

Lyman Orchard's opens its 11th Annual Corn Maze on Saturday. This year's design features UConn Head Coach Geno Auriemma and Jonathan, the Husky mascot. It's a tribute to the UConn Womens basketball team's back to back national championships. One dollar of every ticket sold goes to charity. The maze is open through Halloween.

It wouldn't be Labor Day weekend without a few fairs. The Haddam Neck Fair kicks off Friday night and continues through Monday. Nicole Frechette and the Michael Cleary band perform on Saturday. The McLovins and Aztec Two-Step take the stage on Sunday. The Woodstock Fair runs through Monday with live entertainment and even the Pillsbury Pie Crust Championship. The Goshen Fair runs Saturday through Monday.

Three-time Grammy Award winner Keith Urban brings his summer tour to the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford. Sunday night's set list includes most of the country star's 11 number-one songs, including his two of his most recent hits, "Sweet Thing" and "Only You Can Love Me This Way." All tickets are $78.

The state's oldest food and wine festival returns for its 25th anniversary. A Taste of the Litchfield Hills starts Saturday and runs through Monday at its new location: Lime Rock Park. Food prices range from $4 to $8 per item. In addition to the outstanding food and wine, there's live music and arts and crafts.
