9/3: Epic Drama and Outrageous Comedy

LIFE CYCLE:  An unusual event is beginning tonight at Hartford Stage with the debut of Horton Foote's "The Orphans' Home Cycle".  The theatrical event is what's known as a play cycle, similar to a TV miniseries.  It's a trilogy of three separate performances that each trace the life-long journey of Horace Robedeaux, his family and his friends through the changing landscape of small town America in the early 20th century.  You can either get tickets to one show at a time, or see a marathon performance of all three parts on consecutive nights.  "The Orphans' Home Cycle" runs through October 24. 

MUSICAL FAMILY:  The founding members of the group NRBQ are back as The Spampinato Brothers, and they're taking their act from their hometown of Cape Cod to The Infinity Music Hall in NorfolkThe brothers have amassed a cult following over the years with their mix of R&B, blues,  jazz, country and even rockabilly . Tickets are $20 and $30.  8PM.

DINNER AND A SHOW:  Head down to New Haven tonight for an evening of laugh-out-loud comedy at Consiglio's Restaurant.  "The Luigi Board," is an interactive Italian musical comedy directed by Joel Vig, from the Broadway hit "Hairspray."  Sing along to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Louie Prima songs as you hear the story of how Luigi, a pizzeria owner discovered the magic of a pepperoni pizza that helped him communicate with the dead.  Tickets are $54.95 for dinner and the show.  6:30PM.
