AG Puts Heat on Heating Dealers

The attorney general has helped broker a deal that would require Connecticut’s oil dealers to take part in the state's home heating assistance program this winter.

The agreement prohibits Independent Connecticut Petroleum Association members from conspiring to boycott the programs that help needy families get heating oil at a reduced rate.

ICPA tried to initiate a boycott of the program last year because it was upset with reimbursement rates by the state, Attorney General Richard Blumenthal said.

Organization representatives said they did not violate the law.
