American Idol Auditions Skip CT

Connecticut's aspiring pop stars are going to have to take a road trip this summer, because audition dates and venues for the eleventh season of American Idol were just revealed and the state's casino venues did not make the cut. Due to its proximity to New York and Boston, the MGM Grand at Foxwoods often hosts reality television auditions, welcoming both X Factor and Survivor during the past few months alone. Connecticut has also fared relatively well in these competitions, and Stratford native Javier Colon is currently one of the favorites to win the inaugural season of NBC's The Voice.

This year's American Idol auditions will kick off in St. Louis on June 28 and continue with stops in Portland, San Diego, Pittsburgh, Charleston, Denver and Houston. The Pittsburgh stop, clearly the most convenient for Connecticut residents, takes place at Heinz Field on July 15. Can't get enough of American Idol? Head over to Stamford's Alive@Five series at Columbus Park on June 30 to watch a show from season nine winner Lee Dewyze for only $10. 5 p.m.
