A West Hartford couple answering a knock at their door were greeted with a terrifying shock Wednesday night.
Two armed men forced their way inside, pistol whipped the man, and began searching the home at 38 Fenwood Avenue.
"The suspects were looking for something in particular," said West Hartford Lieutenant Stephen Estes. "They basically ransacked the house looking for what they were looking for. They were unable to find it." So the gunmen took off.
Police won't reveal what the men were searching for, but do say the attack was not random.
The man who was hit was taken to a hospital.
