Big East Clash at XL

Orangemen at XL: The No. 17 Syracuse men's basketball team visits the XL Center tonight to take on No. 6 UConn, and although the game has been widely reported as sold out, there are still select tickets available. Syracuse is in a bit of a freefall -- they started the season 18-0 before losing their last four games. UConn is trying to bounce back after falling to Louisville in double overtime last Saturday. A limited number of upper-level tickets are still available for $30 here. Fans can also purchase $125 tickets to the Comcast Coliseum Club here. 7 p.m.

Free Indie at BAR: New Haven's BAR hosts another free Manic Productions-promoted show tonight, and this week's event is headlined by Chicago-based indie rockers Joan of Arc. Since they formed about a decade ago, the band has undergone several changes both in their lineup and sound, as frontman Tim Kinsella has been the only permanent member of the group. They've experimented with rock, emo, and electro, using a heavy dose of samples along the way. Check out their performance at last year's South By Southwest festival here. Out Like Lambs, and a local Connecticut band, The World is a Beautiful Place & I am No Longer Afraid to Die, are the opening acts. 9 p.m.

New Haven's Hip Hop Scene: Toad's Place is putting on a Hip Hop Showcase tonight featuring artists from around the state. This evening's bill includes Fat Meezy, TNT, Franky3, BX, G.N.D., Mortal Conquest, and Gigg. Tickets are $10. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

Going out can be a gamble, so why leave it up to chance? Stack the deck every day by peeping Play’s Dance Card.
