A 13-year-old New Haven boy was arraigned on Monday, accused of shooting his 13-year-old girlfriend over the weekend after getting mad at her.
The fight escalated from a tiff to a criminal matter around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday when, police said, the boy shot the girl at a home on Kimberly Avenue, grazing her head and injuring her slightly.
She was taken to a hospital and later released, said police.
The boy ran, police said. They arrested him shortly after and found a handgun nearby.
On Monday, the boy was arraigned on charges including first-degree assault, carrying a pistol without a permit, unlawful discharge of a firearm and reckless endangerment.
