Brown Performs With New Edition

Bobby Brown said he left Whitney Houston's funeral after being asked to move.

Hours after a quickly appearing at Whitney Houston’s funeral and abruptly leaving, Bobby Brown was at Mohegan Sun on Saturday night, performing with New Edition to a sold-out crowd.

Just a few songs into the show, Brown talked about his ex-wife

“I want to give blessings to my ex-wife, Whitney Houston. I love you. I want to give blessings to my kids, my fiance and my brothers. Thank you for your love.”

Brown said he and his children were invited to the funeral and were seated but then asked to move on three separate occasions.

“I fail to understand why security treated my family this way and continue to ask us and no one else to move. Security then prevented me from attempting to see my daughter Bobbi-Kristina,” Brown said in a statement. “In light of the events, I gave a kiss to the casket of my ex-wife and departed as I refused to create a scene. My children are completely distraught over the events. This was a day to honor Whitney. I doubt Whitney would have wanted this to occur."

Brown said during the concert that this has been a difficult year, but is ready for what is to come in his future.

At one point in the show, he fought back tears, but New Edition came together to perform a show that did not disappoint the people gathered in the arena, many of whom have been fans of New Edition throughout the Boston-based band’s 29-year history.

All six members to perform in New Edition over the years -- Brown, Ricky Bell, Johnny Gill, Michael Bivins, Ralph Tresvant, and Ronnie DeVoe -- performed some of their biggest hits, including “Candy Girl,” “Mr. Telephone Man,” "If It Isn’t Love," Brown's "Roni" and Bell Biv DeVoe’s “Poison.”

Gill performed some new music and climbed off stage and into the crowd.

People from all over New England came to the show and New Edition called it a home coming and noted that family members were in the crowd.

As the show came to an end with “Home Again,” Brown thanked the crowd.

“After all the bad times -- I lost three people in my life this past year,” Brown said, “nothing makes me happier than to be right here.”
