Burger King Manager Shot During Holdup in New Haven

The manager of a Burger King restaurant in New Haven, Connecticut is in stable condition after being was shot during an armed robbery on Sunday night, according to police.

Police have not identified the victim, but her friends said she is 19 years old and the mom of twin baby boys born just a few months ago. 

The woman was shot just before 9:30 p.m. inside the Burger King at 1329 Whalley Ave.

Police said two black males, wearing dark clothing, entered the restaurant and demanded money.

Both had handguns and one of the robbers shot the restaurant 19-year-old manager, police said.

"She had been shot once. The bullet struck both of her legs," police spokesman, Officer David Hartman, said.

The manager, whose name was not released, was rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital and is listed in critical condition. 

Investigators are also looking at whether the same robbers might have been involved in a carjacking on Westwood Street shortly after the robbery.
