We're still wrapping our heads around the Karl Lagerfeld for Macy's collection, but it seems Macy's is already on to the next: Giambattista Valli will launch a limited time collection for the department store on October 26. It will be available in 225 Macy's stores nationwide and macys.com.
The timing of the collaboration couldn't be better. Since the collection kicks off in October, it'll be on shelves for holiday, a particularly opportune time for fans of Valli, as he's widely known for his spectacularly froufrou designs doused in exaggerated layers of tulle, feathers and bows.
According to WWD, the collection will include "cocktail dresses, skirts, blouses, lightweight jackets, edgy pants and graphic T-shirts, mostly in a a red and black palette infused with gold, gray and fuchsia." Prices range from $50–$150. This is the first time the designer has dabbled in a lower-priced line.
Valli is the fourth designer to collaborate with Macy's for the Impulse Only at Macy's collection, last in line behind Kinder Aggugini, Matthew Williamson and Lagerfeld, whose line hits stores and the web August 31. All the aforementioned designers (and Valli) will create exclusive product for Macy's during the holidays.
Martine Reardon, Macy's executive vice president of marketing and advertising, says designers are already being considered for spring collaborations—in addition to clothing, they're contemplating shoes, handbags and jewelry collections. We'll be watching closely.
