A New Haven man is in a Florida hospital with life-threatening injuries after a police cruiser struck him.
Terry Barnes, 24, was crossing the street in St. Petersburg just before 11 p.m. Saturday when a cruiser responding to a call struck him, according to the St. Petersburg Times.
The cruiser did not have its lights and sirens on, police told the Times. Witnesses told police they saw Barnes running across the street into the path of the St. Petersburg police car, the Times reports.
Barnes was flown by helicopter to an area hospital.
