Failed Suicide Attempt Ends in Arrest

A botched suicide attempt could land a Naugatuck man behind bars.

Michael Mason, 49, wanted to kill himself when he shot up a gasoline pump to try to make it explode after a night of heavy cocaine use last October, police said.

Monday, he pleaded guilty to several charges, including having weapons in a car.

Mason was injured in a crash following the shooting incident and was hospitalized.

Mason will have the right to argue for no time in prison when he appears for sentencing in Waterbury Superior Court in August.
