Bad Sneaker

State Police make a drug bust connected to "Sneakers Sports Bar & Cafe" in Ashford. After a lengthy investigation they arrested 44-year-old Joseph McAuliffe.  An arrest warrant to search his Pomfret home turned up 94-grams of cocaine, 21-grams of marijuana and dozens of oxycodone, morphine and acetaminophen pills.  McAuliffe was a patron at the bar.


Sex Behind Bars

A former Danbury federal prison guard who had a sexual relationship with a female inmate and plotted with her to kill his wife is being sent to prison for 15 years. Michael Rudkin of Brewster, New York, was sentenced in federal court in New Haven yesterday after having pleaded guilty last August to sexual abuse of a ward and attempted murder for hire. The murder plot was never carried out.


Police Clerk Charged

A Hamden police records clerk is accused of stealing $270 from the agency and spending some of it during a lunchtime shopping trip at a department store. Police Chief Thomas Wydra says 54-year-old Karen Johnson of Cheshire has been charged with second-degree larceny and placed on paid leave, after an investigation found that money was missing from a revenue account.
Wydra says $2,700 is unaccounted for, and the investigation continues.
