Bristol Man Arrested For Stabbing Death of Neighbor

Bristol police have charged a 29-year-old man with murder in the stabbing death of his neighbor.

Police said Boris Dizik stabbed 36-year-old Gephry Paradis in the neck early Monday morning during what officers describe as a "domestic-related incident."  Paradis was taken to Bristol Hospital and pronounced dead.  Dizik was arrested on the front lawn of his Putnam Street home and detained on $1 million bond. He was to be arraigned Monday in Bristol Superior Court.

Police did not release details on what led to the attack. 


Investigate Elementary School Break-Ins

Vernon police are investigating vandalism at three schools.  Just before 10:45 Sunday night, two windows were kicked out of a door at Northeast Elementary School.  Police searched the area and school, but came up empty.  Several hours later, just before 3:00 Monday morning, officers returned to the school to find the door was damaged again.  Officers also found toilet paper in the hallways. 

At Maple Street School, as many as eight windows were broken and the side of the building had been tagged. 

There were also windows found smashed at the Skinner Road School.

Classes are still on at all three schools.


Firefighter Accused of Arson in Court

A firefighter accused of setting several fires in Mystic is scheduled to be in court today.  William Celtruda set the fires in July and August, according to police.  He allegedly was trying to prove himself to fellow firefighters.  Celtruda is charged with three counts of first-degree arson and criminal mischief.


Elderly Man Hit Crossing the Road

A hit-and-run driver is still on the loose in Preston.  Police say the driver hit and seriously injured an 82-year-old man crossing Route 2A Sunday afternoon.  Ramond Thiel was pushing a wheel barrel when he was hit, according to police.  Thiel is in serious condition at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich.  State police say investigators have recovered significant evidence from the accident scene.


18-Year-Old Charged With Boat Murder in Court

The man accused of killing a Mystic man on his boat was in court Monday.  18-year-old Bryan Sutton faces felony murder and first-degree robbery charges for the stabbing death of Kyle Sheets.  The 29-year-old was killed in September on the boat he lived on.  A 15-year-old and two others also face charges in Sheets' murder.
