Deadmau5 Invades Hartford on 10/16

The XLCenter's Twitter feed was buzzing yesterday as they promised a "#majorannoucement" this afternoon, only revealing that "His/Her/Their/It's name has to do with an animal." Fans were left hoping for a marquee name like Gorillaz, but expected a retread culled from familiar candiates like Sheryl Crow, John "Cougar" Mellencamp or Seal. This time, the venue did not disappoint: Toronto-based electro phenom Deadmau5 is coming to the Hartford arena on October 16 as part of his wildly-successful Meowingtons Hax Tour and tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.

Deadmau5, who's achieved worldwide recognition due to his thumping progressive house, dub step and trance beats, is one of the music industry's most consistent touring draws. He recently sold out a four-night swing at the Hollywood Palladium and his set at Lollapalooza was rated the festival's best by SPIN. Connecticut's EDM scene is growing and, with the possible exception of Daft Punk, the genre has few acts that can compete with Deadmau5. He'll also have an impressive cast of collaborators in tow, as Tommy Lee, Exision and DJ Aero are supporting. Check out a live performance clip here and be sure to pick up at tickets on Friday morning at Ticketmaster's venue page, because this one should sell out within hours.
