Ex-Alderman Busted in House Full of Pot

A former Ansonia alderman is accused of operating a marijuana farm at his Root Avenue home.

Joseph Casetti, 58, and two others were arrested Friday night.  Police charged them with operating a drug factory and marijuana possession with the intent distribute. 

Police report finding 1,000 marijuana plants filling Casetti's basement and attic.  They estimate the value to be approximately $300,000. 

Another home, this one in Oxford, was also searched Sunday night.  Police discovered another 500 marijuana plants which police said are connected to the case in Ansonia.

Also arrested were Cheyne Mazza, 26, of Oxford and Paul Mazza, 26, of Citrus Springs, Florida.  The trio are scheduled to appear in court Monday to face charges.  They may face more charges following the bust Sunday night.
