He was just caught up in the excitement of he presidential election and rushed off the poles while visiting his sister.

The problem is that Kevin Duffy, of Manchester, was in Ohio when he cast an early ballot for the presidential election in Cincinnati. He’s not supposed to vote there.

Duffy, 24, cast his ballot Oct. 4 during a week-long period during which new voters could register and immediately cast a ballot. He pleaded guilty in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court on Monday to attempted false voter registration.

Duffy later told county elections officials not to count his vote. He was sentenced to one year of probation, a $1,000 fine and 250 hours of community service. He also agreed to cooperate with an investigation of alleged improper voting in the county.
