A group of Marines is taking their flag fight all the way to the Connecticut attorney general's office.
The group wants to fly the Gadsden flag over the state Capitol on July 4, reports the Hartford Courant. The flag was originally used by the Continental Navy in 1775, but has since been adopted by the Tea Party movement.
The Capitol Police have denied previous requests to fly the flag, saying it doesn't meet state guidelines.
The group of Marines says it will ask state Attorney General Richard Blumenthal to clarify the issue.
Capitol Police did approve an earlier request to fly the Gadsden Flag over the Capitol in April, but reconsidered after lawmakers dubbed it a political symbol due to its Tea Party connections.
