Geno Almost Left UConn for Men's Program

UConn women's basketball coach Geno Auriemma was on the brink of leaving Storrs to try his hand in the men's college game.

In a recent interview with yahoo.com, the Hall of Fame coach talks freely about the ups and downs of his career with the Huskies and says that he was "five minutes" from accepting a job with a storied men's collegiate basketball program.  The identity of the school is never revealed, but he refers to "a place that's had great success" and the opportunity to "rekindle that."

Geno's Philadelphia roots are well known, and it wouldn't be a stretch to think he would consider offers from St. Joseph's or Temple.

Auriemma says the 11th hour deciding factor was his daughter, who had just graduated from UConn, complaining about him picking up and leaving just when they might have some time to spend together.

Perhaps the world will never know where Geno was heading?  Where do you think he would've gone?
