Geno Calls Fans Spoiled

As UConn women advanced to the Sweet 16, the attendance at Gampel Pavilion was the lowest it has been since 1994, according to news reports.

Soon after UConn’s 64-40 win over Purdue on Tuesday night, head coach Geno Auriemma said UConn has a “spoiled group of fans” and he is going to recommend not bidding on the NCAA championship, the New Haven Register reports

He also made some tongue-in-cheek suggestions on boosting attendance, the Register reports.

"We probably have to win more games. Everybody loves a winner. I think free parking and handouts at the game would help. Letting some of the fans participate in coaching the team since they always volunteer to do that. I think what would help the most is I am going to recommend we don't bid on this tournament for the next five years because I think we have a real spoiled group of fans who just assume we are going to win, just assume we are going to Philadelphia, assume we are going to the Final Four,” Auriemma said.
