Grace Potter Rocks at UConn

FRIDAY
On Campus: Vermont-based rock quintet Grace Potter and the Nocturnals kick off the weekend at UConn's Jorgensen Center. Potter, a talented singer and multi-instrumentalist, is beloved for her dynamic stage presence, which has even evoked comparisons to Tina Turner. Check out their single "Paris )Ooh La La)." Non-student tickets are $32-$42. 8 p.m.

Soulful Slugger: Legendary New York Yankees centerfielder Bernie Williams, a classically trained jazz guitarist and composer, is playing a free show at Mohegan Sun's Wolf Den tonight. Williams won four World Series titles during his sixteen-year playing career, but he also boasts two full-length albums and a Latin Grammy nomination. Paul McCartney and Paul Simon are both fans. Watch him perform on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. No cover. 8 p.m.

SATURDAY
Dance Display: The ten finalists from season eight of Fox's So You Think You Can Dance will take the stage at the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods. The show has been a surprising (and enduring) hit, and both Connecticut casinos frequently bring in cast members for performances. Tickets are $47-$67. 7:30 p.m.

SUNDAY
The Three (Young) Tenors: Italian teenage operatic pop trio Il Volo will put their vocal talents on display at the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods. Il Volo made their U.S. debut during the tenth season of American Idol, performing "O Sole Mio," a single that eventually cracked the Billboard 200's top ten. They've also been nominated for two Latin Grammys and appeared on the series finale of HBO's Entourage.
