Over the next two weeks, as The GHAC's Taste of Hartford invites local diners to sample the city's fare with $23 three-course prix fixe menus. Twenty-seven of the city's best restaurants have signed on through August 14. The highlights:
¶ Max Downtown is putting their most popular dishes on display, including the Block Island swordfish with panzella salad and basil puree, the grilled New York strip steak with panko crusted vine-ripe tomatoes, watercress, fried red onions and gorgonzola sauce, and grilled pork chops with cornbread sausage stuffing.
¶ J Restaurant has crafted a pair of summer menus for the occasion, peppered with light fare like a melon and prosciutto soup, grilled watermelon and haloumi and lobster rolls with white truffle butter.
¶ Tisane Euro Asian Cafe will offer separate Euro and Asian menus. You can opt for a grilled citrus tea-cured salmon with jasmine rice and stir fried local beans, or a grilled marinated skirt steak with tri-color baby potatoes, local corn and Haricot verts with a peppered port jus.
