Head to New Haven for Pizza Fest

There will be 480 pizzas.

If you are unable to make it to the Festa! 2011 Italian Festival in downtown Ansonia, on Aug. 4, don’t worry, a pizza fest is soon approaching.

What better place to celebrate pizza than in New Haven, home of the famous thin crust pizza created in 1925 by Frank Pepe.

The 16th Annual Greater New Haven Pizza Fest will be serving more than 480 pizza pies this year, donated by various pizzerias from around the area. While enjoying the great taste of pizza, you can also enjoy a free concert on the New Haven Green provided by the International Festival of Arts & Ideas. Enjoy your pizza and free concert June 16, 17, 23, and 24 starting at noon.

Pizza slices are $3 for one or $5 for two.

Also being sold is Italian ice for $2 and soda or water for $1.

Proceeds from the pizza fest will benefit the Connection, a Connecticut human service and community development agency.

Abate Apizza & Seafood, Kimberly Pizza, and Modern Apizza, all located in New Haven, to name a few, are some of the restaurants donating pizza.

To help serve the pizza pies to the crowd the Omni New Haven Hotel and the New Haven Public Defender's Office will be sending volunteers.
