Janet Jackson at Mohegan Sun

Janet's Hit Parade: Janet Jackson's "Number Ones, Up Close and Personal World Tour" stops by the Mohegan Sun Arena tonight. Jackson is belatedly touring in support of her 2009 album "Number Ones," and will perform chart-topping hits from throughout her career. The singer was a no-show at her last scheduled performance in Connecticut, reportedly due to an undisclosed illness. Later, blogs alleged that Jackson had opted out of the show due to poor ticket sales, and because she was frustrated that L.L. Cool J reneged on an agreement to be her opening act. Regardless, her recent performances have garnered excellent reviews, and she's a perfect fit for the star-crazed casino crowds. Tickets are still available here for $64.30-$84.75 7:30 p.m.

Supreme Diva in CT: Motown legend Diana Ross brings her considerable star power to The Bushnell tonight. She's been one of the world's preeminent performers since she broke out as the lead singer of The Supremes in the sixties. Since then, Ross has sold millions of albums and remained one of the country's strongest solo touring acts. She's in the midst of her "More Today Than Yesterday" run of shows, a greatest hits tour that showcases some of her most memorable work. Check out this clip from her performance at Radio City Music Hall last year. Tickets are still available for $48-$88. 8 p.m.

Gorbel's Free Show in New Haven: BAR continues their free Manic Productions Wednesday night music series with a solo performance by indie rocker Jarrod Gorbel. Gorbel was the frontman for the now-defunct Brooklyn band The Honorary Title until the quintet parted ways due to creative differences. In 2009, Gorbel released his solo EP, 'Ten Years Older.' Check out an acoustic performance of that album's title track here. City Streets Country Roads and Paul Panamarenko open. No Cover. 8 p.m.
