Lieberman Hopes to Mend Fences

For the first time in nearly a year, Sen. Joe Lieberman and Connecticut Democratic Party Chairwoman Nancy DiNardo will meet next week. It is expected to be a private meeting.

Lieberman has been trying to mend political fences after upsetting many Democrats nationwide by supporting Republican John McCain's presidential campaign.

Connecticut Democratic Party officials considered censuring him and asking him to leave the party, but decided instead to send him a letter that expresses their disappointment with him.

Lieberman, the Democratic nominee for vice president in 2000, won the 2006 election as an independent after losing the Democratic primary.
