Manuel Still Hasn't Spoken to Michigan

UConn AD Warde Manuel is a Michigan alum.

It seems like every time there's any job opening at the University of Michigan, UConn athletic director Warde Manuel's name surfaces as a possible candidate. He's an alum, once played for Bo Schembechler, and has had success running the Huskies' athletics department.

So now that Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon has resigned, we're again hearing rumors that the university is interested in Manuel. And while they may be, they have yet to contact Manuel.

"I'm in a great job," Manuel said, via the Hartford Courant. "Obviously, my alma mater means a lot to me, but I love it here. So what I want as an alum is in the best interest of Michigan and obviously for the football program to improve — like all my former teammates and friends."

Other names mentioned to replace Brandon, according to the Courant: Michigan graduate and current Boston College AD Brad Bates, former Michigan administrator and current Arkansas AD Jeff Long, Texas Tech deputy AD Joe Parker, Oklahoma AD Joe Castiglione and Oregon AD Rob Mullens.

ESPN reported Saturday that Michigan was focusing on Northwestern athletic director Jim Phillips.
