K9s to Compete in Milford

37TH Annual Region 7 Police K-9 Certification Trials hosted by The Milford Police Department.

The best police dogs from Connecticut and New York will be in Milford for a K9 competition next month and you can can watch them show off their skills and help police raise money for a good cause. 

The U.S. Police Canine Association Region 7 Police Dog 1 Field Trials happen on Saturday and Sunday, April 14 and 15 at Wasson Field. 75 West Main St. and the dogs will demonstrate obedience and agility, suspect and evidence search, criminal apprehension and handler and handler protection

The event will be in honor of Officer Daniel “Danny” Scott Wasson, a 25-year-old Milford man who died in the line of duty. April 12 will be the 25th anniversary of his death.

All of the proceeds from the trials will go to the Milford Police Benevolent Association's Wasson scholarship fund, which goes to a graduating Milford senior who is pursuing a degree in the criminal justice field.

The event runs from from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wasson Field 75 West Main St. All events are free and open to the public.

All the K9 teams will participate in a demonstration on Saturday, April 14 at 6 p.m. at Foran High School, 80 Foran Road in Milford.
