New Haven Needs a Tree

New Haven is looking for a 55-70-foot holiday tree.

Three-thousand sparkling lights will adorn its evergreen branches and multitudes will gaze upon this holiday centerpiece in awe – when a Good Samaritan comes to their rescue, that is.

The City of New Haven is looking for anyone with a 55-to-70-foot Norway Spruce or Douglas-fir tree to donate to the city so it can become the holiday staple on the historic green this season.

Removal and transportation fees will be covered. And if you’re in possession of 25-to-40-foot trees the Department of Parks, Recreation & Trees would still like to hear from you and might considering placing smaller trees in different locations.

Last year, the city waited until Nov. 3 to cut down, transport and display the holiday tree.

To make a donation, call Christy Hass in the Parks, Recreation & Trees department at (203) 946-8004.
