This Weekend: Mmmmm! Maple Syrup

Watch Sap Become Maple Syrup

You pour it on your pancakes and probably don't think about where it comes from, but this is the prime time of year for maple syrup making!

At sugarhouses across Connecticut, you can watch sugar makers turn tree sap into the syrup that many of us enjoy every day. In Hebron, they have an entire festival that celebrates maple syrup. The 21st Annual Hebron Maple Festival runs all day on Saturday, March 12 and Sunday, March 13. The town's three sugarhouses will be open to the public for tours and there are dozens of other events planned up and down Main Street. For a list of events and locations, click here.

If you can't make it to Hebron this weekend, there are more sugar houses across the state. With only two weeks left in the maple syrup making season, many of them are also holding open houses and and are available for private tours. To find a sugarhouse near you, click here.
