More Than Two Feet Of Snow In Connecticut?

The roar of a snowmaking machine is the sound that skiers and snowboarders love to hear.

"I love it. The first place of the season," said Freddy Pasquarieli of Watertown. Pasquarieli is a snowboarder and couldn't wait to hit the slopes.

Woodbury Ski Area just opened two weeks ago. They already made tons of snow.  They made most of it Tuesday night.

"We had perfect snow making conditions. In this cold, we made more than two feet. It was incredible," said Rod Taylor, Woodbury Ski Area's owner.

About a half dozen kids were skiing and snowboarding down the hill Wednesday afternoon. They couldn't wait to take advantage of what the cold weather brought.

"We had a half day of school. Me and a buddy of mine we saw the snow online so we decided to come up," said Alex Chiera. He drove 45 minutes from Poland New York.

There will soon be more space to take on at the Woodbury Ski Area.

The owner just got the okay to expand the tubing trails and build a new lodge.  He hopes it will add to what is already looking to be a promising season.

"In November it is incredible to be this cold. So we think it's going to be one of our best years to start ever," Taylor said. "With the money situation right now, we think people will ski more local and more frequently."

Taylor plans to start working on the expansion right away and hopes to have it open by Christmas.
