Needham, Stags Pass Bison

Sophomore point guard Derek Needham dished out 13 assists last night to lead Fairfield University to a blowout 72-52 victory over Howard, as the Stags made a triumphant return to their former home court at Alumni Hall. Needham pushed the ball early, totaling eight assists in the first half alone and using his penetration skills to create open shots for teammates Yorel Hawkins, Maurice Marrow, and Colin Nickerson, all of whom scored in double figures. Last season, Fairfield left their longtime home at Alumni Hall and began playing games in the Arena at Harbor Yard in nearby Bridgeport. Fairfield students and local residents were clearly excited about the return, as a "raucous" crowd of nearly 1,500 showed up to watch the contest.
