Oh Reege! Insurer to Pay for Cruiser Damage

Reege’s insurance premiums are likely to go up after his insurance company writes Greenwich PD a check for almost 3 grand.

Regis Philbin's insurance company will pay $2,700 for damage caused when he backed his SUV into a town police car after attending a party and dining, Greenwich officials said.

The police car was out of service for nearly two weeks after the Nov. 12 accident while the town repaired the minor damage.

Philbin, who has a home in Greenwich, discussed the accident the morning after on his ABC television show "Live with Regis and Kelly," and said he was embarrassed by the mishap.

He was backing up slowly and carefully because he could not see past a large SUV parked next to him when he hit the cruiser, he said.

No one was injured. Police gave Philbin a written warning.
