Pfizer Layoffs Expected

Pfizer Inc. plans to reorganize is expected to cut jobs. How many scientists and researchers in Connecticut would be affected is not known.

Pfizer has already cut about 14,000 jobs worldwide. The company is selling a manufacturing plant in Ireland, where about 150 jobs will be lost, the Belfast Telegraph reported Thursday.

A spokesman for the drug maker said the company would continue to look for ways to be more efficient.

Bloomberg reports that job cuts might come before cheaper copies of Pfizer's Lipitor hit the market. The news organization said jobs losses are expected in sales and marketing.
