Remember how big Ska was in the '90s? If you were a fan, catch one of the genre's one-hit wonders this Friday in downtown Hartford. "Reel Big Fish," the band that sang that catchy tune "Sell Out," will headline a block party on Allyn Street along with winners of The Advocate's Grand Band Slam.
No doubt about it, these Block Parties get rowdy with 10 local bars sponsoring the event. Agave, Pour House, Black Bear, The Palace, The Tavern Downtown , NV , Coach's , Pig's Eye Pub , One Eleven Lounge and Up or on The Rocks will open their doors to anyone who pays a $15 cover. Look who's selling out now.
Bands will play on two outdoor stages at Ann Street and Union Place. This year's local talent includes: Bronze Radio Return, Kick, Big Floppy Disk, Tip the Van and Article 19.
The last block party was held in June and attracted hundreds of people. This time, it's all about the music, so behave and rock out.
