Interstate 91 South was closed in Wallingford for hours after several cars collided Thursday afternoon.
All southbound lanes between exits 15 and 14 were closed until just past 6 p.m.
State Police report five passenger cars and a commercial vehicle are involved.
Many injuries are reported, at least one person is seriously wounded.
This is the same area of a fatal accident Tuesday afternoon involving a DOT vehicle.
