Shop Around the Clock

With more than 41 million holiday shopping slackers waiting until the last minute to hit the stores, several retailers around Connecticut are making special accommodations.

The typical shopper has only finished half of his holiday shopping, with millions even further behind, reports show.

According to the National Retail Foundation's "Holiday Consumer Intentions and Actions" survey, 8 percent of respondents said their shopping is complete and more than 41 million people have not even started their holiday shopping.

Some shoppers say budgets are to blame. Others are self-proclaimed procrastinators, leading 13 Macy’s Department Stores across the country, including the store located at Westfarms Mall, to offer more time to shoppers.

Starting Saturday, Dec. 20 at 6 a.m., Macy’s will keep its doors open around the clock – only to close them at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve. If you shop late but now over night, many Connecticut malls have extended hours for the holidays.
