Snow Shopping: Milk, Bread, Shovel, Sleds

A white forecast means people are spending their green.

At the Stop and Shop in Bristol Friday, people were buying essentials, because, as Liz Burdelski of Bristol puts it, "I'd rather be inside (later) than trying to brave the storm."

Hardware stores and shops that sell rock salt, shovels and sleds are seeing plenty of last-minute shoppers.

At City True Value Hardware in Bristol, people have been bringing in their broken snow blowers for repair.

"As tight as money’s been with the economy, it’s a boost for us," owner Joe Englert said.

Jared Coleman, of Avon, plows streets and driveways for extra money during the wintertime. He's stocking up on supplies he expects he will need with the major storm expected to hit Connecticut Friday.

“Getting rock salt, getting ready for work, getting ready to plow and get all the driveways done," he said.
