St. Patrick's Day In Connecticut

More parades are happening.

Saint Patrick's Day was yesterday, but celebrations are not over in Connecticut!

What began as a religious holiday to honor the patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick's Day has turned into a celebration of all things Irish all over the world. Irish or not, it is a day to wear green, don shamrock earrings, make corned beef, and drink green beer.

(And let's not forget those Shamrock Shakes at McDonald's!)

Connecticut has a deep Irish history and the parades are something that people look forward to every year.

Some other notable parades include:

  • Meriden: Saturday, 2 p.m. from Parker Avenue to East Main Street to Bradley Avenue
  • Mystic: Sunday, March 20 at 1 p.m., South Lot of Mystic Seaport
