It's 1.5 miles long and heads 600 feet up -- the Tower Trail is the most popular trail at Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden, for good reason.
The tower built at the top of the trail sits on top of the mountain and boasts priceless views.
But if you've made the trek and think that's all Sleeping Giant has to offer, think again. There are 32 miles of trail criss-crossing the park's 1,600 acres. Eleven different trails offer hikes of varying ability levels, but one thing to expect is rugged terrain. After all, the park is named for the mountain peaks that look like a "sleeping giant" from the distance.
If you want hiking tips and a break down of the trails, Sleeping Giant Park Association volunteers will lead a guided hike on Sunday, May 15 for beginners. It's free and starts at 1:30 p.m.
