This Weekend: Hot Air Balloons Take Flight

The 26th Annual Hot Air Balloon Festival takes flight this weekend over Plainville. It launches on Friday night at Norton Park with a balloon glow at dusk and fireworks at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, hot air balloons launch as early as 6 a.m. This free event also features craft and car shows and live entertainment.

Legendary singer-songwriter Stevie Nicks takes the stage on Saturday night at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods. She has produced more than 40 top 50 hits and sold nearly 120 million albums as both the front woman of Fleetwood Mac and as a solo artist. The show starts at 8 p.m.

Get your dancing shoes on and head to Quassy Amusement Park in Middlebury for the "Are You Dense Musicfest." It's Saturday from 2:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the park. The funk and soul music festival is dedicated to raising awareness of dense breast tissue for the early detection of breast cancer. This year's headliner is "Soul Be It," a 12-piece horn band that covers the music of Earth, Wind and Fire, Tower of Power and other funk-soul bands.

It's an end-of-summer tradition that you won't want to miss! The Lutz Children's Museum celebrates Farm Day on Saturday at the Fish Family Farm in Manchester. The event includes live bluegrass music, farm animals, hay rides, games, and of course lots of great ice cream. Admission is $5 for museum members and $6 for non-members.

Don't forget about the 15th Annual Cromwell Riverport Festival. It kicked off Thursday night and runs through Sunday afternoon in historic downtown. There will be food, rides, music and of course, fireworks. The show starts Saturday at 9:30 p.m.
