“Thrones” Author to Sign Books

George R.R. Martin will speak tonight outside Boston.

George R.R. Martin, award winning and best selling author of the “Song of Ice and Fire” series, will be appearing in the northeast for two book signings this week.

Martin's novels are the basis for the new hit HBO series, "Game of Thrones," which just recently concluded its first season on the premium cable network and has received overwhelmingly positive reviews from fans and critics.

The book series has sold more than 16 million copies worldwide.

The fifth installment of the sweeping fantasy epic, “A Dance with Dragons,” hits bookstore shelves today.

Martin will appear tonight at Barnes & Noble at 98 Middlesex Turnpike in Burlington, Massachusetts (just north of Boston) as the first leg of his American signing tour to promote the novel. The event will commence about 7 p.m., and Martin is expected to address fans and take a few questions before signing copies of the new book.

Martin will appear on Thursday at the Union Square Barnes & Noble in New York City, where he will again be meeting fans and signing books.

Large crowds are expected, and the author warns that the wait might exceed three hours, and that he will not be able to offer personalized autographs or inscriptions.

He is expected to be sign books until the stores close.
