Tough Fire Claims Life in Burlington

A 34-year-old woman was killed in a fire in Burlington duplex Wednesday night.

State police have identified the victim as Kimberly Golden and said she lived alone. The state medical examiner will perform an autopsy.

A neighbor of the Claire Hill Road home called 911 just after 9 p.m. When firefighters arrived, the flames were shooting from the windows.

Putting the fire out was a challenge because the home is on a narrow road and hydrants were not nearby, firefighters said. Extra tankers had to be called in.

The state fire marshal is investigating.
