Tour New Haven's Best Restos on Foot

Noted local foodie, journalist and professor Stephen Fries will take inquisitive guests on a series of Culinary Walking Tours through downtown New Haven this summer. The popular events provide a unique "insider" look at the city's best chefs and restaurants. Fries is certainly an authority on the subject: he's the principal organizer of Iron Chef Elm City and the Elm City Cocktail Competition in New Haven.

The tours are priced at $59 for individuals and limited to 20 people. They include stops and tastings at nine different eateries. Past tours have dropped by iconic New Haven dining destinations like Caseus, Union League Cafe, John Davenport's, Frank Pepe Pizza Napoletana and Louis' Lunch, but diners should be prepared for just about anything. Fries is currently offering tours on July 9, August 6, September 17, October 15 and November 12. There will also be a special tour on December 10 that costs $69. Check out a well-produced video of Fries' tour here or visit his web site for more info.
