UnGodly Confession Leads to Mental Evaluation

A West Haven man who allegedly told police Allah gave him instructions to “melt down” a power plant also confessed to a carjacking and several other unGodly activities, police said.

As cops try to figure out whether Robert Thompson, 30, really did these things, a judge placed him on mental health watch.

Thompson was in court Monday after he was arrested, accused of June 6 a carjacking.

He was also being investigated for allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail over the fence at the Yale power plant June 7. He told a detective that Allah instructed him how to "melt down" the plant, police said. The plant was not actually damaged.

As if allegations of these two crimes were not enough, Thompson also claimed to starting robbing banks and stores in 2004, police said. They are trying to verify those.

He told detectives he did it to show "the system" that he wasn't insane.
