It's the season for fairs and festivals in Connecticut. There are two distinctly different ones going on this weekend.
At Lyman Orchards in Middlefield, they are celebrating peak peach season with Peach Fest Saturday, Aug. 20. Lyman Orchards grows 30 varieties of peaches -- that's more peach varieties than apples! The festival includes pony rides, a pie eating contest, live music and of course pick your own peaches.

In Milford, they are celebrating the city's rich oyster history that dates back to the 1700s, with the Milford Oyster Festival. You can sample 14 different kinds of oysters, harvested from Maine to Virginia, on Saturday, Aug. 20. There will also be carnival rides for the kids, schooner rides on Long Island Sound, arts and crafts and The Marshall Tucker Band will headline Saturday night. The party kicks off on Friday, Aug. 19 with "Oyster Eve" from 6 p.m.-9:30 p.m. You can enjoy live music, beer and wine, and of course, oysters at Lisman Landing on Milford Harbor. There's a $5 cover charge.
